These badges are categorized by two features: 1 5/8 inch diameter, a folded under crimp. These badges are die cut to 2 inches in diameter. Then they are circle crimped to an outside diameter of 1 5/8 inches. The crimp was machine done with steam thus creating a hard crimp that when unfolded shows a distinct ring in the broadcloth. Scouts would cut and fold square badges to make them look like wide crimps, but if the badge is not die cut and does not show the crimp line then it is considered a cut down square, NOT a wide crimp.
